Terms of Use
The German version of these terms is the legally binding one. This English version is a translation for your convenience.
1. Who we are
Pagewerk is offered by Malte Schiebelmann, Salzmannweg 12, 14469 Potsdam, Germany, hello@pagewerk.app ("we", "us"). Further details are in the legal notice.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply to:
- the Pagewerk apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Android (not every app is available yet),
- the website pagewerk.app and the free web tools on it,
- the optional Pagewerk account, including the account and purchase pages on app.pagewerk.app.
Who sells Pro to you depends on where you buy it (sections 5 and 6). How we handle your data is explained in our privacy policy.
3. Free use and Pro
Free. Every tool can be used free of charge with its usual options and without watermarks. The free version includes one saved workflow. The web tools can be used once a day for free, with files up to 25 MB. Some Pro options can be tried a limited number of times for free, as shown in the app.
Pro. Pro unlocks every option and unlimited workflows. Pro costs €4.99 a month or €39.99 a year, or €39.99 once for one year without renewal (web only). There is no free trial. Prices include VAT; on the web you see the final amount in your currency before you pay.
Where Pro works. Pro bought in a store works on all your devices that use the same store account. With a Pagewerk account, Pro also works on your other platforms, on up to 3 computers and 5 mobile devices at the same time. You can sign out a device in the account settings to make room for another.
4. Your account
An account is optional. You need one to use Pro on more than one platform, to sync workflows, signatures and settings, and to buy Pro on the web.
- Please give a working email address and keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- One account is meant for one person. Do not share your account.
- You can delete your account at any time (section 13).
5. Buying Pro on the web (Paddle)
On the web, Pro is sold by our reseller Paddle, which acts as Merchant of Record. Your purchase contract is with Paddle, and Paddle's buyer terms apply to it. Paddle handles payment, invoice, taxes and payment methods. Its details are shown in the checkout and on your invoice.
We provide Pro to you once Paddle confirms your payment. A redirect after checkout alone does not unlock Pro; the confirmed payment does.
6. Buying Pro in the App Store (Apple)
In the App Store, Apple sells Pro to you. Apple's terms apply to the purchase, payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds. You manage and cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings, not with us.
7. Term, renewal and cancellation of web subscriptions
- Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically for another month or year until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time on the account page. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; Pro stays active until then. For most payment methods, you can take back a cancellation on the account page before the period ends.
- Switching between monthly and yearly takes effect immediately for most payment methods, with the amount adjusted pro rata. For some payment methods (for example Pix or UPI), the provider does not allow a switch during a running subscription. In that case the current subscription ends at the end of the paid period, and you confirm the new plan with a new purchase afterwards. The account page explains which applies to you.
- One year without renewal is a single payment. Pro is active for twelve months from the confirmed payment and then ends automatically. Nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel.
8. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a web purchase. Because Paddle is the seller, Paddle grants and handles this right; the withdrawal instructions are part of Paddle's buyer terms. For digital content and services, the right of withdrawal can end early once we start providing Pro, if you expressly agreed to this in the checkout and confirmed that you know you lose your right of withdrawal. How to withdraw or request a refund is described on our refunds page.
For App Store purchases, Apple's rules on withdrawal and refunds apply.
9. Fair use
Please use Pagewerk only within the law. In particular, do not:
- process documents you are not allowed to process, or use Pagewerk to infringe the rights of others;
- attack, overload or try to get around the security of our services, the licence check or the free-use limits;
- use the web tools or our servers automatically or in bulk in a way that goes clearly beyond personal use;
- reverse engineer, resell or sublicense the apps, except where the law allows it.
If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may block your account after warning you. Without a warning, only if the breach is so serious that a warning cannot reasonably be expected of us. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
10. Your documents
Your documents stay yours. The apps and web tools process them on your device; we do not receive them. You are responsible for keeping copies of important files. Please check the results of conversions and text recognition before you rely on them, especially for legal or financial documents.
11. Availability and changes to Pagewerk
The apps work offline. To keep Pro active, an app with a Pagewerk account needs to connect to the internet now and then: the licence it stores is valid for 14 days without a connection and is renewed automatically.
We take care to keep the website, web tools and account server available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, for example during maintenance or disruptions beyond our control.
We develop Pagewerk further. We may change features for good reasons, for example to keep up with new operating systems, for security, or because of legal requirements, if this costs you nothing extra and we inform you clearly. If a change impairs your access to or use of Pro more than slightly, we will tell you in good time in advance, and you may end your subscription free of charge within 30 days of the change.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for new features or new legal requirements. We will tell you about changes in good time before they take effect. For running subscriptions, changes apply only if you agree. If you do not agree, your subscription continues under the previous terms until you cancel it or it ends.
13. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the apps or on the account page.
- Your web subscriptions end immediately. Deletion does not trigger an automatic refund, also not for the remaining time of a paid period or the year without renewal. If you want a refund, request it first (see our refunds page).
- App Store subscriptions are not cancelled by deleting your account. Please cancel them in your Apple account settings.
- Your synced data is deleted. Download it first if you want to keep it ("Export data" on the account page).
What happens to your data is explained in our privacy policy.
14. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee.
For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential for the contract and on which you may regularly rely (a cardinal obligation). In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract.
Otherwise, our liability for slight negligence is excluded. These limitations also apply to the personal liability of people we work with. Your statutory rights in case of defects of digital products remain unaffected.
15. Governing law, venue and dispute resolution
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer and live in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country still protect you.
If you are a consumer, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply. If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Potsdam.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If something goes wrong, please write to us first: hello@pagewerk.app.
16. Final provisions
If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remains valid; the statutory rules apply in place of the invalid provision.
